Carol has worked for over 40 years now across both education and social work services in North Lanarkshire, Glasgow and West Lothian. For the last 25 years, she has been working in education, and remains passionate about improving understanding, supporting and developing wider opportunities for neurodiverse learners. As well as gaining valuable experience through work, she has close personal friendships with autistic people, and she has learned so much about the value of listening, inclusion and the importance of person-centred support, understanding and advocacy.
Carol is delighted to continue in her role as Trustee with Hope for Autism and really enjoy working with the Hope team who provide key support to autistic children, young people and their families. She is committed to Hope for Autism’s mission and welcomes the opportunity to contribute her skills to support the charity’s strategic direction and impact.
In her personal time, Carol enjoys spending time with family and friends, eating out or having a day/weekend exploring the outdoors. She is committed to church work and more recently became involved in prison volunteer work. On her own, she is very content with reading or listening to music and pottering in her garden.

Lorna is a Board Member at Hope, and has been supported as a member of HOPE since 2016. They have designed art for flyers and were involved in the 15 year Celebration as a DJ.
Since becoming a Board Member, Lorna has been passionate about using their experience to help younger people living with autism or similar neurodiversities. As they are autistic themself, they believe their personal view of life as an autistic individual would be helpful to this role.
They wish to pass on their knowledge and offer support to those in the same position as they once were in the hope that they may have easier experiences going forward.
Additionally, Lorna has great interest in exploring new and exciting neuro-affirming tools, indicators, and strategies being adopted by younger generations of autistic people, such as badges, fidgets, and similar comfort items, and educating them and their parents or carers about other niche ideas and communities they may be drawn towards.
Lorna is a multimedia artist, mainly a digital illustrator and music producer, but also makes crafts and costumes. They enjoy video games, indie animation, and all sorts of music.

With many years experience specialising in autism through speech and
language therapy, alongside secondments in the third sector, I had the
privilege of serving as CEO of HOPE from 2023–2025. During this
exciting period, the organisation expanded its services to support
more autistic adults, as well as children and young people in nursery
and school settings. We also extended our services into different
communities across North Lanarkshire.
Although I have since moved into a new role, I am delighted to
continue supporting HOPE as a Trustee. The organisation is very close
to my heart, and it is a joy to remain involved in shaping its
strategic direction.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family, eating out,
walking, shopping, and visiting cafés for tea and cake. I also love
watching films, both at home and at the cinema, with my children.
